Days 11-20 of the 50 Nifty Challenge

50 days – 50 photos – 50mm. We challenged ourselves to take 1 photo a day for 50 days using only the Canon 50mm f/1.8 lens. Taking “gear envy” out of the equation and focusing on creating compelling images with what you have.

BrandonCardwell.com 2.0

Nearing the 2 year mark of launching my website, I decided it was time for a complete redesign. I think the new design is a better representation of who I am and what I love to do. Hopefully this design is easier to navigate, and makes viewing projects much more accessible.

“Heist” – a 48 Hour Film Project

I spent this past weekend creating my fifth entry in the 48 Hour Film Project (48HFP). This year, our team Weekend Warriors competed in Boston from May 2-4, 2014. This is the 4th iteration of our team with members having previously competed in Boston and New Hampshire starting in 2011. The faces change year to year, but the core has remained the same and I think this was our strongest year yet.

2013: A Year in Review

To say 2013 was an interesting year for me would be an understatement. I spent the year living in 3 states and 2 countries, met many wonderful people along the way, and had the opportunity to work on several projects around the world. This post is my year in review as told by these projects.
Here’s to a prosperous and eventful 2014!

“Play Me, I’m Boston’s”

I have finally released my newest project: Play Me, I’m Boston’s.

The video is a music video shot on all 75 street pianos installed around Boston as part of the Play Me, I’m Yours exhibition. The exhibition has local artists decorate pianos that are installed in public spaces around the world for people to enjoy. I saw how happy people were watching, playing, listening to the pianos as I wandered around the city. I wanted to try and capture that excitement before the pianos were removed. This project was quite the adventure since once we came up with the concept, we had less than a week to be able to make it happen before the pianos were removed.

1 Year Down

It is hard to believe a full year has passed since I launched this website. It has been a while since I’ve posted or updated, but that is because I’ve been working on tons of brand new projects to share with you!

I have a very cool project that I’ve been polishing over the last week has been a bit behind schedule, but it will be released soon!

Kasteel Well Video Project: “Okay” by Barefoot Truth

When I left Boston to live in the Europe for 3 months, I knew I wanted to come home with something special and different to remember my travels by.  Seeing as music has such an impact on my life, I decided to create a music video while I was gone.  I wanted to pick a song that I felt would make me smile every time I had to sing it while recording, every time I had to listen to it while editing and most importantly every time I watched it after it was done.

An a-peel-ing film!

This past weekend, I led a team in the 2013 Boston 48 Hour Film Project and we successfully completed our film on time! Our film is entitled “Bananaman” and this was our third year participating in the 48 Hour Film Project. For those of you not familiar with the 48HFP, it’s an international filmmaking competition […]
