Beethoven’s 9th & Schoenberg

This is my second live webcast with the Boston University Symphony Orchestra & Chorus. We’ve been working for months behind the scenes to prepare for the multi-camera broadcast of this biannual concert at Symphony Hall. Ken-David Masur — assistant conductor of the Boston Symphony Orchestra — takes the podium in this all Viennese program. This […]

Faure’s “Requiem” & Stravinsky’s “Persephone”

One of the major projects for my new job at Boston University is working to put together a live webcast of the School of Music’s biannual performances at Symphony Hall. Although this was only my first production with the university, we worked to significantly increase the production value. With the substantial improvements made thus far, […]

Drum Corps: Round II

Last summer, I dove headfirst into the drum & bugle corps world, working all summer as a videographer for the Boston Crusaders Drum & Bugle Corps. I returned to the corps’ media team for the corps’ 75th Anniversary season as a videographer and webmaster. The majority of our 2014 media team returned, meaning we didn’t […]

Beatles in Beantown

After hearing that I had worked with the Emerson Treble Makers on their recording of “Skinny Love,” Achoired Taste – another a cappella group at Emerson College – approached me to help them record their medley of Beatles songs. Achoired Taste was planning to shoot their first music video and wanted a quality recording of […]

Skinny Love

In October 2014, the Emerson College Treble Makers performed on WERS as part of Live Music Week. I was engineering the live session, and their cover of Bon Iver’s “Skinny Love” struck a chord &emdash; pun intended. Shortly thereafter, I approached the group asking if they would be interested in doing a studio version of their arrangement. They had never recorded anything professionally and I had always wanted to produce an a cappella track. It was a perfect match.

A Summer of Drum Corps

This summer I was fortunate to accept a position as a videographer for the Boston Crusaders Drum & Bugle Corps. Before this summer, I never thought I would be able to professionally follow and document the marching arts. One of the instructors of my high school marching band had told me about the position which opened my eyes to this new opportunity to combine two of my passions: music & video.

I really had no clue what I was getting myself into, and now I know that drum corps is one of those activities you only truly understand by living it. Most people would gawk at the thought voluntarily dedicating their entire summer to traveling overnight on buses, sleeping on the floor in local high schools, and spending all day on a sunny field in the 100 degree heat.

“Play Me, I’m Boston’s”

I have finally released my newest project: Play Me, I’m Boston’s.

The video is a music video shot on all 75 street pianos installed around Boston as part of the Play Me, I’m Yours exhibition. The exhibition has local artists decorate pianos that are installed in public spaces around the world for people to enjoy. I saw how happy people were watching, playing, listening to the pianos as I wandered around the city. I wanted to try and capture that excitement before the pianos were removed. This project was quite the adventure since once we came up with the concept, we had less than a week to be able to make it happen before the pianos were removed.

“Dreaming of Boston” released!

I’m very excited to announce that Marissa Fritz officially has released her debut album “Dreaming of Boston” today!  Marissa and I started working on this album over a year and a half ago – recording on weekends or between classes when we had some free time and access to equipment.  This was such a interesting creative process as we took her songs and built them up into what you hear on the album.  This was my first real dive into studio recording as well as Marissa’s first time recording any of her material.  We had quite the learning curve as we experimented with new techniques and arrangements, but I think all of our hard work paid off.
