Boston’s 4th of July in Tanglewood

This 4th of July looked a bit different than it normally does. The annual Boston Pops show on the Esplanade was moved to Tanglewood in the beautiful Berkshire hills in western Massachusetts. Due to the pandemic, it unfortunately wasn’t feasible to hold the event along the Charles River, turning this year into a unique performance. […]

Behind the Scenes at BSO Now

Nick Squire, the Boston Symphony Orchestra’s Recording Engineer, and myself did a virtual presentation and Q&A session recently for some of the BSO’s donors. The development department asked us to give some insight into what happens behind the scenes at the BSO to make all of the video and audio programming happen. Particularly with BSO […]

Fanfares at Fenway

Working in classical music, the last place I’d expect to find myself is at Fenway Park. I had come a few times for work – mainly to capture Keith Lockhart throwing out the ceremonial first pitch. But this was something new entirely. As a portion of this year’s Holiday Pops concert for BSO Now, the […]

A Boston Pops Salute to our Heroes

As one could imagine, the pandemic led to the cancellation of any in-person performances for the 4th of July. Neither the BSO and the Pops have had a performance since March 2020. Naturally, we still wanted to have a broadcast and spread some joy in such a dark time. Building a show in a pandemic […]

World Series Viral Video

In celebration of the Boston Red Sox making it to this year’s World Series, we put together a video with Andris Nelsons and the Boston Symphony Orchestra challenging Gustavo Dudamel and the LA Philharmonic to a bet. The BSO performed “I’m Shippin’ Up to Boston” by the Dropkick Murphys. The video has spread like wildfire […]

“Snow Day” – a 48 Hour Film Project

This past weekend, I took part in my seventh 48 Hour Film Project. Our team, Weekend Warriors, competed in Boston from May 13-15, 2016 this year. Each year our team must welcome new teammates and say farewell to others. Due to the changing strengths of our team, each film is a new experience. We decided to animate our film this year which presented a whole bunch of new challenges for us (as if making a film in 48 hours wasn’t enough!)

Beethoven’s 9th & Schoenberg

This is my second live webcast with the Boston University Symphony Orchestra & Chorus. We’ve been working for months behind the scenes to prepare for the multi-camera broadcast of this biannual concert at Symphony Hall. Ken-David Masur — assistant conductor of the Boston Symphony Orchestra — takes the podium in this all Viennese program. This […]

Corps of Giants: Trailer & Release Date

Shooting for the Boston Crusaders Drum & Bugle Corps‘ 75th Anniversary Documentary began in July of 2014 and didn’t conclude until over a year later. After nearly another year of post-production, I’m ecstatic to announce that Corps of Giants will be released on May 26th at the new headquarters for the Crusaders’ parent organization, Inspire […]

Faure’s “Requiem” & Stravinsky’s “Persephone”

One of the major projects for my new job at Boston University is working to put together a live webcast of the School of Music’s biannual performances at Symphony Hall. Although this was only my first production with the university, we worked to significantly increase the production value. With the substantial improvements made thus far, […]

Drum Corps: Round II

Last summer, I dove headfirst into the drum & bugle corps world, working all summer as a videographer for the Boston Crusaders Drum & Bugle Corps. I returned to the corps’ media team for the corps’ 75th Anniversary season as a videographer and webmaster. The majority of our 2014 media team returned, meaning we didn’t […]
