The COVID-19 pandemic unfortunately did not allow for the annual July 4th gathering along the Charles River with the Boston Pops. I edited together a 3-hour broadcast featuring the highlights from the last few years of the Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular. The finished show aired nationally on Bloomberg and locally on WHDH on July 4, 2020.
The 2020 Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular broadcast, under the direction of Keith Lockhart, presents A Boston Pops Salute to Our Heroes. The broadcast on July 4 at 8pm will feature both new content and highlights from beloved performers from the past three years including:
- Broadway legend Brian Stokes Mitchell
- Amanda Mena, America’s Got Talent semi-finalist from Lynn, MA
- American folk-rock singer-songwriter Melissa Etheridge
- Amanda Gorman, first-ever Youth Poet Laureate of the United States
- Broadway star Leslie Odom Jr.
- Grammy Award-winning artist Rhiannon Giddens, lead singer, violinist, banjo player, and a founding member of the acclaimed country, blues, and old-time music band the Carolina Chocolate Drops
- Rita Moreno, iconic singer/actor/dancer
- Great American folk singer-songwriter, Arlo Guthrie and The Texas Tenors
- The incomparable Queen Latifah, American rapper, singer, songwriter, actress, and producer
- Pop sensation Andy Grammer
